致病性微生物在臨床上往往造成許多嚴重的問題，抗藥性菌株的出現及抗藥基因的傳播也使現有抗生素的使用受到限制，增加感染症治療上的困難。本實驗室研究興趣主要包括微生物致病分子機轉、微生物與宿主細胞交互作用機制、開發抗藥性細菌之替代性治療物質或療法，以及環境、腸道正常菌叢與細菌致病之關連等，主要利用分子生物學、細胞學、免疫學、蛋白質表現純化、基因體學及動物實驗等系統性和整合性方法，探討微生物與疾病相關議題，希望將微生物學研究應用於健康醫療產業，發展疾病篩檢、診斷工具、治療藥物或疫苗，希望幫助解決健康醫療實務問題。

Pathogenic microorganisms often clinically cause many serious problems. The emergence of drug-resistant strains and the spread of drug-resistant genes limit the use of existing antibiotics and increase the difficulty in the treatment of infectious diseases. Our research interests mainly focus on microbial pathogenesis, microbe-host cell interactions, and alternative therapeutic substances or methods to treat drug-resistant microbial infections. Additionally, we are also interested in the underlying mechanisms of disease and drug resistance transmission, especially focusing on the relationship between the normal microflora, environments, food, animals and clinical settings in the One-Health perspective. We hope our medical microbiological studies can be applied to develop new therapeutic, preventative or diagnostic tools and to help to control infectious diseases and to improve human health in the future.
